NEW ORLEANS-- McNeese State's women's tennis team remained undefeated at 3-0 here Sunday with a 7-0 victory over Xavier. The match is the second consecutive match the Cowgirls shutout their opponent. McNeese defeated Loyola 7-0 Saturday.
McNeese swept through the doubles matches with ease with no. 1 team of Victoria Martinez and Ralista Pirdopska and the no. 2 team of Maria Frausto and Petra Gudelj winning their matches by a 8-3 score.
The Cowgirls' no. 3 doubles team comprised of Kwynn Biggs and Ilona Serchenko cruised to a 8-0 victtory.
The continued their domination in singles play where the Cowgirls won four matches in straight sets with Martinez, Gudelj, Frausto and Biggs picking up victories.
Pirdopska and Serchenko won their matches in tie-breakers. Pirdopska won the no. 1 match over Anastesia Opata (6-2, 2-6, 10-5) and Serchenko won 6-2, 4-6 12-10.
The Cowgirls will travel to UL-Lafayette Friday for a 2 p.m. match before returning home on Feb. 20 to host Louisiana Tech.
