McNeese State's Cowboys will play a 15 game home basketball schedule in the 2010-2011 season and will go on the road to play such teams as Washington, Miami, Southern Miss, LSU and Texas A&M.

"We've really got a good home schedule," said Cowboy head coach Dave Simmons in announcing the slate, "with non-conference games against Georgia State, UL-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech and Sacramento State as well as with our regular conference opponents.

"And, we do have a tough road schedule," he noted.

The Cowboys will open their season against Washington in Seattle on Nov. 13 and will open their home campaign on Nov. 16 against Georgia State.

McNeese will play at Southern Miss on Nov. 22, Miami on Nov. 24, at LSU on Dec. 16 and at Texas A&M on Dec. 31.

The outing against Washington will be the second between the two schools while McNeese will be playing Southern Miss for the 20th time, Miami for the first time, LSU for the 19th time and Texas A&M for the fifth time.  The Cowboys are 1-0 against Washington (a 96-92 victory in Seattle in the 1985-86 season), 7-12 against Southern Miss, 0-18 against LSU and 1-3 against Texas A&M.

Besides the outings with Georgia State, ULL (Dec. 1), Louisiana Tech (Dec. 11) and Sacramento State (Dec. 19), McNeese will also host non-conference opponents Louisiana College on Nov. 20, Jarvis Christian Dec. 9, Southwest Assemblies of God on Dec. 13 and University of the Southwest (out of Hobbs, NM) on Dec. 21.

McNeese will kick off Southland Conference action on Jan. 8 at home against TAM-Corpus Christi.  Other league games at home will be against Texas State (Jan. 15), Sam  Houston State (Feb. 2), Central Arkansas (Feb. 12), Northwestern State (Feb. 19), Nicholls State (Feb. 26), Southeastern Louisiana (Mar. 2) and Lamar (Mar. 5).

The Cowboys will play five doubleheaders at home this year, the Cowgirls playing the early game each day on Nov. 20, Dec. 21, Feb. 19, Feb. 26 and March 5.  Also, the Cowboys will play in five doubleheaders on the road, all conference outings.

McNeese has 11 lettermen returning this year including last year starters Patrick Richard, P. J. Alawoya, Diego Kapelan, C. J. Collins and Will Morning.  Other lettermen back are Dontae Cannon, Jeremie Mitchell, Brandon Regis, Daniel Richard, Preston David and Stephan Martin.  New to the team will be redshirt Adrian Fields and junior college transfer Mari Kontae.
