Originally constructed in 1965, Cowboy Diamond has been the home for Cowboy baseball for over 40 seasons. The 2,000-seat stadium is located on southeast corner of the Doland Athletic Complex along Common Street just south of McNeese Street. The largest crowd ever to see the Cowboys was when LSU came to town in 2000, and 2,191 Cowboy faithful packed Cowboy Diamond to witness the Cowboys knock off the nationally-ranked Tigers 9-8 in 11 innings.
Since 2005, a major facility renovation has been underway at Cowboy Diamond. A new Daktronics scoreboard was installed in 2005, that provides up-to-date information for fans in attendance. A message board was also included in the construction of the scoreboard that allows for crowd involvement and game atmospheric elements.
Prior to the 2007, a new wall was completed after the existing one was destroyed by Hurricane Rita. The new wall provides a nostalgic feeling to the ballpark and allows sponsors the opportunity to display static signage.
Prior to the 2008 season, the Cowboy Diamond grandstands received a new make over. New aluminum grandstands were installed in the general admission sections and a new chairback section was installed in the middle of the grandstands. Along with new seating, new wheelchair accessible ramps were installed for better access, along with stair wells that make access much easier and safer. Also, prior to the 2008 season the infield was laser leveled to help enhance the stability and conisistency of play
The field is natural turf, dimensions being 330 down the line, 375 to the power alleys and 400 to straight-away center.
