McNeese State's women's basketball (1-1) team returns to action Saturday to host Samford at 11 a.m. at Burton Coliseum. The game is the first of a doubleheader with the Cowboys.  The game was originally scheduled for a noon start.

Saturday's game is only the second all-time against Samford. Last year the Cowgirls faced the Bulldogs in the Samford Thanskgiving Classic where the Cowgirls fell 67-48. McNeese is coming off a 76-51 win over Texas College Monday that saw four Cowgirls score in double figures. Sophomores Candace LaCombe and Kendra Wells are the Cowgirls' leading scorers on the season with LaCombe averaging 15.0 ppg. and Wells averaging 12.0 ppg. Wells leads the team with 8.5 rpg.

Samford enters the game undefeated at 2-0 and is coming off a 69-66 come from behind victory over Evansville Sunday. The Bulldogs defeated Jacksonville State 59-46 in their season opener. Samford has three players averaging double figures with Savannah Hill leading the way with 19.0 ppg. Also averaging in double figures is Monica Maxwell and Emily London with 15.5 ppg. and 11.5 ppg., respectively. Hill and London are tied for a team high 6.0 rpg.
