HOUSTON – McNeese's 4x100-meter relay team made up of
Tyler Syrie,
Tyler Smith,
Jaylen Goodly and
Gared Brown ran a season-best 40.79 time to place first in its heat and third overall to highlight the Cowboys performance on the final day of the Victor Lopez Classic on Saturday.
The time is also the 3
rd-fastest in the Southland Conference this season.
Meanwhile on the women's side, sprinters
Aleyah Donald and
Mia Robinson, along with hurdler
Nina Radisavljevic posted season-best times in their respective events.
Donald finished sixth overall in the 100-meters, first in her heat, with a time of 11.94. In the 200-meters, Robinson, also first in her heat, placed 12
th overall with a mark of 24.83 while Radisavljevic finished 13
th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.84.
For the Cowboys, Smith ran a 10.58 in the 100-meters to place fifth, second in his heat while Brown had a first place heat finish with a time of 10.94.
In the 200-meters,
Jalon Charles clocked a 21.97 to finish second in his heat and ninth overall while
Ethan Rapp ran a 22.97 to place first in his heat.
In the javelin event,
Steven Benjamin was eighth with a mark of 164-2. Taking first place honors was Cowboys' throw coach
Ben Chretien, a former Cowboy All-American, who posted a mark of 206-9 while
Travon Godette, competing unattached, finished second with a throw of 205-3.
In the women's javelin event,
Morgan Woods placed second with a throw of 138-9 and
Tijana Antic had a sixth place finish in the triple jump at 39-9 ¾.
