NOTRE DAME, Ind. – One day after setting a new personal record in the women's 60-meter dash preliminary round, McNeese Cowgirl sprinter
Aleyah Donald clocked her second-fastest career time in the semifinals at 7.74 to pace McNeese on the final day of the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational on Saturday.
Donald didn't qualify for the final round but her time on Friday has lifted her into eighth on the Southland Conference rankings list in the event.
Adding to the broken PR list, distance runners Alex Eykelbosch and Gladys Jerotich each posted new PRs in the 3,000-meters – Eykelbosch with a mark of 10:12.51 to place sixth in her section and Jerotich at 10:12.59 for a seventh place finish in the same section as both improve on the league's top 10 marks.
Kim Uhlendorf ran a 2:19.08 in the 800-meters to finish ninth in Section while
Grace McKenzie finished fifth in Heat 3 of the 60-meter hurdle semifinals with a time of 8.96.
In the field events for the Cowgirls,
Alanna Arvie placed 18
th in the shot put with a throw of 43-11.75.
On the men's side, hurdler Darion Dunn qualified to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a semifinal time of 8.24. In the finals, the freshman ran an 8.19 to place seventh. Those times were the second and third-fastest in his young college career. He also jumped 20-9.25 in the long jump.
Nemanja Koviljac set a new PR in the long jump when he finished eighth with a leap of 23-1.25.
Tyler Syrie ran a 7.02 in the 60-meter dash semifinals to finish second in heat three, but he missed out on advancing to the finals by .09 seconds.
Tyler Smith, who qualified for the semifinals, did not run in the round.
The Cowboys got a couple of nice runs in the Meyo Mile with Luke Horgan clocking a new PR with a time of 4:14.24 to finish seventh in his section and Niall Holt placing ninth in Section 2 with a time of 4:17.49.
In the men's 400-meters,
Blake Comeaux finished fifth in his section with a time of 49.24 while Kobe Nevills also placed fifth in his section at 50.14.
The Cowboys' 4x400-meter relay team of
Ethan Rapp, Kobe Nevills, Terrill Banks and
Blake Comeaux ran a season-best 3:18.63 to finish second in its heat and ninth overall.
