McNeese Vice President and Director of Athletics Heath Schroyer has announced the addition of Keifer Ackley as Assistant AD for NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) and Student-Athlete Development.
Â
A local attorney and graduate of McNeese and the LSU Law Center, Ackley will lead the McNeese Athletics NIL program and serve as the primary contact for external university NIL partners.
Â
"I'm really excited to add Keifer to our admin staff and in this role," said Schroyer. "He will be a game changer for us.
Â
"The landscape of college athletics continues to change. I've always tried to be proactive and not reactive as an athletic director and adding Keifer to our staff in this role signifies that. I couldn't be more excited."
Â
A Sulphur native and a 2014 graduate of Sulphur High School, Ackley earned his bachelor's degree from McNeese in 2018 and LSU Law School in 2021.
Â
"Joining McNeese Athletics under Heath's leadership is an incredible honor," said Ackley. "Heath is a dynamic and proactive leader who is always thinking ahead and pushing the envelope to ensure our student-athletes are positioned for success. I'm excited to work alongside him and the rest of the team to support our athletes as they navigate the ever-changing NIL landscape."
Â
At McNeese, Ackley was president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and in 2017, was named Homecoming King in the fall and Mr. McNeese on the Spring Court.
Â
"I'm ecstatic to return to my alma mater and join the athletics department during such a pivotal time in collegiate sports," added Ackley. "As a proud Cowboy, I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of our student-athletes both on and off the field. This is an exciting era in college athletics and I'm honored to help our student-athletes navigate the opportunities that NIL presents. My goal is to empower them to maximize their potential while ensuring they have the support and resources they need to succeed in this new landscape."
Â
Commented Schroyer: "Keifer is a lawyer who has given up a lucrative career to help advance McNeese and our athletic department. I'm so excited about the future of McNeese Athletics, and adding Keifer in this role is one of the reasons."
Â
While at LSU, Ackley competed in multiple high-level sports law competitions with his team beating out groups from Harvard, Duke, Tulane, and Virginia law schools.
Â
He graduated from LSU Law School in 2021 and passed the Louisiana Bar exam soon after. He's currently a licensed attorney in the state of Louisiana and has practiced law the past three years in Southwest Louisiana at Lee Hoffoss Injury Lawyers working with hurricane claims and personal injury. Post Hurricanes Laura and Delta, Ackley worked hundreds of hurricane claims for clients to repair homes and property.
Â
The son of Keith and Janice Ackley, Keifer is the youngest member of the McNeese Alumni Association Board.
