Peyton Prudhomme is in his first season as an assistant coach with the McNeese Cowboys. At just 30-years-old, he bring eight years of Division I coaching experience to Lake Charles.
Prudhomme joins McNeese after five seasons at Grand Canyon University where he held multiple roles including assistant coach, chief of staff, director of operations, and director of video operations. During his tenure in Phoenix, the Lopes posted a 120-40 overall record (75% win rate) and a 63-21 mark in Western Athletic Conference play. Under his guidance, GCU captured six championships, including two regular-season titles and four WAC Tournament crowns, while earning four NCAA Tournament appearances in five years.
At GCU, Prudhomme coached 16 All-Conference players, and played a key role in the development of standout guards Rayshon Harrison (3x All-WAC), Jovan Blacksher Jr. (3x All-WAC), and Tyon Grant-Foster (2x First Team All-WAC, 2024 WAC Player of the Year). He also worked with All-WAC forwards JaKobe Coles (1x First Team All-WAC,2025) and Lök Wur (6th Player of the Year, 2025).
Prior to his time at Grand Canyon, Prudhomme served as a graduate assistant at Baylor University under head coach Scott Drew. There, he worked closely with future NBA draft picks Davion Mitchell (9th overall, 2021) and Jared Butler (40th overall, 2021). During the 2019-20 season, Baylor spent five consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the nation, finishing with a 26-4 record before the postseason was canceled.
As a player, Prudhomme began his collegiate career at Northwestern State before transferring to Texas Wesleyan, where he was part of the Rams' 2017 NAIA Division I National Championship team.
A Louisiana native, Prudhomme is the grandson of legendary LSU head coach Dale Brown, a College Basketball Hall of Famer who led the Tigers for 25 seasons and reached two Final Fours.
Prudhomme earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Texas Wesleyan in 2018 and his master’s degree in Sport Pedagogy from Baylor in 2020.
